Some representatives of an organization closely linked to to the one I work for just had a meeting with a top-level political staffer in the office of a Conservative cabinet minister. In the course of this meeting, said staffer informed the reps that he more or less did not believe in consensus. He stated that when he sees a letter or policy document that has been signed on to by many different organizations, he automatically discounts it. His logic is, in order to get many different organizations to all agree to anything, the letter or policy must be so watered down as to be useless. So any letter or policy or letter which has found consensus is, as far as he is concerned, worthless.
These are the people running your government, ladies and gentlemen.
